Who are we?

Burwood Privacy Specialist Centre (BPSC) is a community-based specialist medical centre, providing access to a variety of specialist medical services to residents of Burwood and the surrounding areas. We aim to be the area’s premier specialist service providing locals with treatment options close to home that are easily accessible. We also strive to provide superior quality specialist treatment that is affordable for our patients, in a supportive, friendly, and nurturing environment.

Where are we located?

Our specialist and modern clinic is located at 140 Burwood Highway, Burwood. We offer free undercover parking for our patients, with our parking located on the left-hand side of the Centre.

How do I make or cancel an appointment?
Burwood Privacy Specialist Centre offers several options for making an appointment. If you are a new patient to our clinic, we encourage you to contact us by phone on [insert phone number]. Alternatively, if you are a recurring patient you are able to either make an appointment by telephoning our office, in addition to utilising our online appointment booking service.
For general practitioners who are wishing to make referral appointments for their patients, we also accept booking via email or facsimile. Please send all referrals to [Email.com].
Do I need a referral to see a specialist?

In order for our specialists to be able to provide you with the best health care possible, it is essential that you bring several essential documents. Patients need to bring a referral from their general practitioner, family physician, surgeon, or other doctor. This is a HEALTH INSURANCE COMMISSION requirement which will allow you to claim a MEDICARE rebate for your consultation. Specialist referrals are generally valid for 3 months and general practitioner referrals are valid for 12 months. For long term patients, an “indefinite” referral may be obtained. It is the patient’s responsibility to ensure that they have an up-to-date referral prior to any consultation.

Additionally, we ask that our patients bring to their appointments any copies of medical reports, x-rays and test results which are relevant to their condition. This will ensure a continuity of care.

Do I need an interpreter?
If you believe that you will need an interpreter to assist with your appointment, to ensure that you can accurately and effectively communicate with your specialist practitioner, we encourage you to discuss this with our friendly reception staff when making your appointment.
What are your hours of operation, and do you do weekend and after hours appointments?
The Burwood Privacy Specialist Centre is open Monday-Friday 9 am to 5 pm. Appointments may be available outside our standard office hours and can be discussed with our friendly reception and administration staff, when making your appointment.
What should I bring to my appointment?
In addition to bringing your referral letter, we ask that our patients bring to their appointments any copies of medical reports, x-rays and test results which are relevant to their condition. This will ensure a continuity of care.
What Covid-19 measures do you have in place? Can I bring a support person?
Our practice is fully compliant with all rules and regulations implemented by the Victorian State Government. The wearing of masks is mandatory whilst in our facility, as in QR code sign in, and social distancing measures. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions we also ask that where possible only patients attend appointments at our clinic.

Research and Education

Burwood Privacy Specialist Centre is a facility that is committed to research, learning and education. We regularly have students working with us and participate in research programs with the aim of improving patient care and increasing treatment options. As a patient at our practice, you will always be asked for your consent in relation to our education and research methods. Should you have any concerns regarding this, please discuss with our staff and your treating specialist.

What do you do with my personal information?
At Burwood Privacy Specialist Centre, we take privacy and confidentiality very seriously. You can rest assured that your personal information, details, and medical history will all be treated and dealt with in the strictest confidence and in accordance with the legislative measures put in place through the Privacy Act.

We guarantee that your personal information will only be used for the provision of your medical care and treatment, and we do not disclose your details to any third party organisations for the purpose of marketing. Do I need to pay for my consultation on the day?
Our practice does require payment of any out of pocket (non-Medicare covered) costs associated with your appointment. Our practice is affiliated with major health fund providers, and we have the ability to process refund payments instantly for a number of private health care providers.

At the time of your appointment, our friendly reception and administration staff will discuss payment for your consultation with you.
